D365FO e-mail test error – The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM [LO2P265CA0194.GBRP265.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM]

Today I tried to set up e-mail parameters in my local D365FO VM.

After setting up my account and SMTP parameters I tried test mail option and continiously got the error :

The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM [LO2P265CA0194.GBRP265.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM]

Everything was correct.

Then tried to run a report and send it via e-mail. Ta taa. Worked.

Another Microsoft bug cost me 2 hours and anxiety. Just ignore it. Do your own test!
